Odd links

  • It looks like there may be more popular support for taxing in the interest of public health than some of us might have guessed.
  • Curtis Ebbesmeyer was recently on NPR's Science Friday to discuss Flotsametrics, which is basically a search for interesting ocean trash. It looks like there is a big, floating patch of garbage out in the ocean, three times the size of Spain. Here's a graphic describing the garbage patch.
  • Call me crazy, but I love the idea of a homemade Saturn V rocket. The video is great.
  • I recently met a representative of Meatout Mondays. For those still eating meat, I suggest giving the idea a thought.
