For those unaware of American beer history, the name Budweiser was taken (i.e. stolen) from the Czech beer producer Budvar back in 1875 by Anheuser-Busch.
After many lawsuits, some of which are still pending, it has been decided that Budweiser is sold in America, while Budvar is sold everywhere else, and is called Czechvar in the US. Thus far it has had a pretty small following, though that may be about to change. Anheuser-Busch is now running the Czechvar advertising campaign, as I recently witnessed all over San Francisco recently:
Long live Czech beers!
