Environmental links

  • Paul Krugman makes an interesting argument in favor of cap and trade over a carbon tax. I have to agree with this line: "think about how hard it would be to verify whether China was really implementing a promise to tax carbon emissions, as opposed to letting factory owners with the right connections off the hook. By contrast, it would be fairly easy to determine whether China was holding its total emissions below agreed-upon levels."
  • Tree Hugger links to a story at USA Today about Indiana paying $4.5 million to clean up a hog farm waste lagoon.
  • It looks like a town council in Ghent, Belgium has declared Thursday to be meatless. (HT to Bitten)
