Obama's biggest first mistake

I am a big fan of Obama, and even appreciate his bringing in divergent opinions and political ideology into his cabinet, but I was very upset to read that the best economist America has, Joseph Stiglitz, is not on his short list of appointments, and doesn't look to be included in the near future.

For those unaware of the man, he worked for Bill Clinton as his chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers, then as senior vice president for development policy and chief economist at the World Bank and is now at Columbia University.

And for those unaware of Stiglitz's work, I suggest reading his costing of the Iraq war, The Three Trillion Dollar War, and his criticism of current globalization haters and lovers in Globalization and Its Discontents.

For an even deeper read, try Whither Socialism?, one of the most even handed accounts of the failure of modern socialist nations I have ever read, as well as a pretty good academic piece.
